Wealth Talk America: The Dubai Opportunity

Earlier this week, I appeared on “Wealth Talk America,” a radio show hosted by Garrett Sutton (an author in the Rich Dad series). The interview reflects the level of widespread interest amongst US businesspeople in learning about the Gulf in general and Dubai in particular.

My discussion with Garrett was broad in scope, touching on the various reasons why the Gulf is a region “no one can afford to ignore if they’re interested in global strategy.”

Some of the topics covered include:

  • how the Gulf is affecting global business today, both as a market for growth and as a source of capital,
  • why the Gulf, despite its strategic importance, is so little understood in US business circles,
  • what the natural “clusters” within the Middle East are, and how these clusters differ in business attractiveness, and
  • how flexibility in entering joint ventures can be a key driver of success and market share when entering the Gulf.

The full 20-minute interview can be heard here.

You’ve made rather a glaring error :S There are seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates not six.

Habiba Hamid is absolutely correct — my apologies for the error. I misspoke during the live radio interview, but the book and other writings have always cited all seven emirates.

Apologies for the error and many thanks to Ms. Hamid for pointing it out.
